Smsgt William Frank Ellis, Usaf (Ret.)

April 28, 1967 — June 10, 2017

William Ellis, 50, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Mr. Ellis was born on April 28, 1967 in Albion, Michigan to the late Paul and Magdelene Ellis. He graduated from Albion High School in 1985. Although he spent much of his life in Georgia, he always considered Michigan his home and enjoyed spending time there with his friends and family. He loved all things Michigan—Detroit Lions, University of Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Red Wings—EXCEPT Michigan State University although that was his alma mater. With pride and honor, he entered the United States Air Force in October 1989 and proudly served his country for more than twenty years before retiring on May 21, 2010. Following his military retirement, William dedicated many years to Robins Air Force Base as a contractor. Freedom Church of Warner Robins was his church home, and he was a proud supporter of his pastor.

Mr. Ellis was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family every Sunday. His favorite food was Mexican, but he was usually found snacking on pork rinds and a cold beer. His family was the pride of his life and he adored his daughters above all else. He taught them to shoot a gun and would often take them to the firing range for practice. A true outdoorsman, Mr. Ellis found pleasure in hiking, camping, and fishing with his grandson. Their conversation out by the fire usually included discussions of different airplanes as well. Mr. Ellis's home was a safe haven for his family, and he took great pride in decorating the house. He kept his yard and garden in tip-top shape, even to the point of mowing the lawn every two days. If the weather was stormy, you could find Mr. Ellis sitting in his garage watching the rain with his dogs, Rip, Okee, Zoey, and Selma. When it came to romance, the men wanted to be him—and the ladies wanted to be with him.

A natural born leader who excelled in everything he attempted, Mr. Ellis possessed a great sense of humor and was a man of many hobbies—playing fantasy football, spending time at the beach, listening to rock music, and running five miles every day. From his father, he inherited the gift of working with his hands, and built many unique woodcrafts. Halloween was Mr. Ellis's favorite holiday, and the seasonal decorations in his house and yard reflected that. Similarly, it is fitting that scary movies were his favorite films.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved daughters, Jamie Marie Pederson and Paige Rylee Ellis, both of Bonaire; grandson, Jordan Wesley Reed of Bonaire; siblings, Teresa Ellis, James Ellis, Donald Ellis, and Dawn Eagen (Earl); nephew, Justin Heap; and nieces, Mikaela Heap and Gianna Ellis.

Visitation with Mr. Ellis's family will be Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017 in the Courtyard of the Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home. At the family's request, burial will be private.
