Roy E. Maddox, Sr., devoted husband, dedicated father, and loving grandfather, entered into rest on the morning of Tuesday, October 13, 2015. He was 79.
Born in Dublin, Georgia, Roy was the son of the late James and Ella Scarborough Maddox. He was a master carpenter and mason. He began Maddox Woodcraft in the early 1960's and established the Stone Mart business in Perry in the early 1970's. Roy was well known to many for his excellent craftsmanship and his many stories through the years. He served 42 years in the Georgia National Guard Reserves and retired as a Staff Sergeant. Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry was his church home. Roy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Maddox Jr, Virginia Cabral, Vessie Mae Lucas, Robert Maddox, Ray Maddox Margarette Reid and Joseph Maddox.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Emily Annette Maddox of Perry; sons, Roy Maddox (Pat) of Byron, David Maddox (Jeanine Gray) of Kathleen, Mike Maddox (Norma) of Elko, Jeff Maddox of Perry and Rusty Maddox (Denise) of Kathleen; siblings, Jack Maddox, Paul Maddox and Billie Maddox; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Mr. Maddox will be laid to rest in Bonaire Cemetery with military honors.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Cross Point Baptist Church, 645 Perry Parkway Perry, GA 31069 in memory of "Roy Maddox."
