Alvin Earl Landers, 82, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Mr. Landers was born on January 9, 1929, in Faxon, Oklahoma. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Marine Corp for twenty years, participated in the Korean War, and retired as a staff sergeant. "Sarge" was a former member of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge 111 and Al Sihah Shriners Temple. He was an ordained deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cordele. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and a member of the Wings Sunday School Class. His daughter, Arzetta Landers, and parents, Fred Landers and Mercena Wiggins Landers, preceded him in death.
His memory will be treasured by his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Sarah Childers Landers; daughters, Earline Miles (Jim), Warner Robins, Barbara Carstens (Russ), Byron, and Mercena Landers, Roswell; grandchildren, Nina Kinsler, Paul Miles, Chrissy Starritt, and Melanie Barker; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 2011, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Kenneth Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hope Cemetery, Cordele, with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church Building Fund, 901 Elberta Road, Warner Robins, GA 31093
