John O. Burt, II, USAF (Ret) 85, entered into rest on Friday, October 21, 2011.
Mr. Burt was born on July 26, 1926 in Rising Star, Texas to the late John O. Burt, Jr., and Dessie M. Perry. He served his country with pride and honor. He had a long career in the Armed Services. He was in the Navy, Coast Guard, Army, and the Air Force, from which he retired after twenty five years of service. He received the Purple Heart from the Navy on the USS Whiting Ship. He also retired from Bluebird Body Company in Fort Valley after eighteen years of employment. In addition, he was a volunteer Fireman for the City of Bonaire Fire Department. Mr. Burt was a resident of Houston County since 1962 and of the Baptist faith.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of forty nine years, Bettye Jean Burt, Warner Robins; son, John O. (Shannon) Burt, III, of Roberta; daughter, Donna (Kenneth) Henderson, Warner Robins; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and his beloved pets, Princess and Blackie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be in Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
