Robert Steven Byrd, 57, died Wednesday, December 19 at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 21 at First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. The Reverends Rick Turner and Eugene Barlow will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.

A native of Warner Robins, Mr. Byrd was born on Robins Air Force Base. He was educated in the Houston County Public School System and was a 1962 graduate of Warner Robins High School. He received an Associates Degree in Business from Middle Georgia College in 1964 and Bachelors Degree in Business from Georgia Southern College in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, during which time he attended Officers Candidate School and Business School and attained the rank of First Lieutenant. Since 1969 Mr. Byrd had been the owner of Byrd & Company LLC, a residential construction and development company in Warner Robins. At the time of his death he was serving on the Board of Directors of CB&T Bank; and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce; WRING; and the 21st Century Partnership. Previously he served as Director of the Homebuilders Association of Houston County; Vice-Chairman, Houston County Development Authority; Director, Bank South; Director, North Houston County Chamber of Commerce; Director, WRING; and served as a Houston County Commissioner from 1973 until 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene and Christine Wainwright Byrd; and a sister, Gwendolyn Byrd.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Betty Outz Byrd; son, Mark Steven Byrd and his wife Amy Dykes Byrd, Warner Robins; aunt, Cleo Wainwright Tatum, Thomaston; several nephews and many special friends.
