Steven William Myers, 52, passed away peacefully December 27, 2008, after a long and courageous two year battle with leukemia.
Mr. Myers was born on December 18, 1956, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. His parents, Elbert and Gisela Myers, preceded him in death. Steve grew up in West Point, Mississippi, where he made many lifelong friends. After his father's passing, Steve and his mother moved to Warner Robins where they helped each other start new lives.
Steve did many things in his life but was best known for his musical talents. He was a talented keyboard player and songwriter who played with a number of bands, including Loose Change. He enjoyed life to its fullest and was a friend to all. His kindness, even temperament and easy disposition were his hallmark. He lived life on his own terms, his own schedule and loved music, close friends, good times, traveling, and dogs. An active member of Narcotics Anonymous, he was proud of his progress and the progress of others. Steve never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
His memory will forever be treasured by his brothers, Ralf Myers, Mill Valley, California, and Dan Myers, Atlanta; step-daughter, Tasha Clinkenbeard, Warner Robins; and many German relatives in Bremerhaven, Hamburg, and the surrounding area.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 3, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2009, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. It will include a reunion of his former band, Loose Change. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family at a reception at the home of Stan and Robbie Martin, 110 Chestnut Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Narcotics Anonymous World Services, P.O. Box 9999, Van Nuys CA 91409 or go to www.na.org.
