Sue Causey, 91, entered into rest on Thursday, January 14, 2009.
Mrs. Causey was born on Thanksgiving Day November 27, 1918, in Roanoke, Alabama. A charter member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and member of the Joy Sunday school class, she served in many ministries for the children, youth, seniors and women, all while holding leadership positions in the Missions and Benevolence Programs. Never turning down an opportunity to show her love for her church, she gave her loving touch from the first foundation to the New Expansion of Shirley Hills. In 1971, she was awarded the prestigious honor of being named "Woman of the Year" for the city of Warner Robins. She was a secretary for Parkwood Elementary School for many years and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-two years, James Austin Causey, Sr., parents, Larry and Minnie Pearl Cobb.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, James A. (Reita) Causey, Jr.; granddaughter, Michelle Traugh, and husband, Scott Traugh; beloved great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elizabeth Traugh; and sisters, Addie Butler, Betty Brown, Lee Pound and Thomas Cobb.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010, at Shirley Hills Baptist Church, Reverend Napp Grenade officiating, with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Church, 614 Corder Road, Warner Robins Georgia 31088 or The Warner Robins Recreation Department - Ceramics Department, P.O. Box 1488, Warner Robins Georgia 31099.
