Sylvia Hollis Joyner

July 13, 1936 — February 17, 2022

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sylvia Hollis Joyner, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. She was 85 years old.

Born on July 13, 1936 in Tuscaloosa, AL, Sylvia moved to Warner Robins in 1947 where she lived ever since. She graduated from Warner Robins High School and was proud to be one of its first cheerleaders. Not long after graduating, she began working in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. There, she led a successful, 30 plus year career before retiring. Furthermore, Sylvia was steadfast in her faith in her love for Jesus Christ and was a very active member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and the Newcomers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed serving as a lifetime member of the Warner Robins Touchdown Club, as well.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her son, Charles Barker; and her father, Terrell J. Hollis.

She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore P. Joyner of Peachtree City, GA; children, Carol Murphy of Warner Robins, GA, Sharnell Gillum (Paul) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Pat Joyner (Bernie) of Tyrone, GA and Denise Hughes of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren, Ginger Williams (Derrick) of Tampa, FL, Matthew Joyner (Amy) of Clarksville, GA, Kimberly Nolan (Matt) of Newnan, GA, Eric Young of New Port Richey, FL, and Shannon Thames (Sam) of Hiram, GA; and nine great-grandchildren.

Sylvia’s family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
