T. Wayne Hudson

February 23, 1939 — July 14, 2015

Wayne Hudson, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Houston Medical Center where he was surrounded by the adoring family he loved. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Henry W. and Myrtle Ward Hudson, Wayne spent most of his life in Houston County. He was a graduate of Warner Robins High School where he played football and basketball. In 1959 he was married to Dianne Hayes Hudson. August 1st would have marked their 56th wedding anniversary and these years were full of love, laughter, and the building of a family that meant everything to Wayne. He continued to enjoy sports while coaching youth football at the Warner Robins Rec Center in his earlier days and he enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities. Wayne also made a special habit of taking his daughters to Disney World every year; he later continued these annual trips with his granddaughters, and recently even introduced his two great-granddaughters to the annual Disney vacation.

Traditions just happened with Wayne; he loved to repeat the things that gave him and his loved ones joy. Sharing time cooking out with friends and family on any possible occasion, beach trips to Daytona, firing up the grill even in the pouring rain, and making his special dressing for every holiday meal were all things he loved. Caring for others came naturally to him and he showed this in ways both large and small. A beautiful example of this was when his mother and father-in-law were in need of care; rather than suggesting a nursing or assisted living facility, Wayne simply started building. Their home was large enough to share, but it wasn't outfitted just right for wheelchair access and the things that would make his in-law's lives comfortable. In typical Wayne fashion, he built what was needed and moved them in. He had a heart for caring and it showed. Wayne also enjoyed walking, but these walks weren't typical. His thirty minute daily jaunts were also enjoyed by his two cats, the late Nicholas and the current Wally. This may not seem all that odd - until you consider that the cats were walking on leashes, and wearing little harnesses, quite willingly. Wayne prided himself on giving the full thirty minutes to his companions; if a walk was cut short, he was pleased to let you know that he always made up the difference later in the day. Nicholas and Wally were very appreciative! Wayne truly had a love of life, a sense of humor, and devotion to his family. All of these things will be deeply missed. Wayne was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he had been a Computer Programmer Analyst. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Doris Stoner.

Wayne is survived by a loving and grateful family including his wife of nearly 56 years, Dianne Hudson, Warner Robins; daughters, Anitra H. Gavin, Warner Robins; Cindy Hudson, Macon; Wendy H. Martin (Casey), Macon; granddaughters, Amanda G. Resta (Gary), Alamogordo, NM; Lily Gavin, Warner Robins; great-granddaughters, Emma Resta and Anna Resta, both of Alamogordo, NM; brother, Bobby Hudson (Margaret), College Station, TX; and sister, Jackie Winters, Warner Robins.
