Tehart James went to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of Tuesday, August 23, 2016, just was one-day shy of his 81st birthday.
Tehart was born in Byromville, Georgia to the late Willie James, Sr. and Hannah Janis-Johnson and was of the Baptist faith. At a young age, he acquired a devoted work ethic and used this trait to succeed in whatever challenges he faced. Mr. James proudly owned and operated T. James Construction Company successfully for 35 years. When he was not hard at work, he loved listening to blues music and spending time cooking out with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tehart was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Hoosier James; his siblings, Herbert James, Eddie Mack James, Oscar James, Sr., Willie James, Jr., Verna Strong, Alberta Colson, Lucille Byrom, Mattie Waters, and Morris James; sisters-in-law, Bertha James, Pearl James, Arizona James, Maryland James, and Edith James; and brothers-in-law, John Byrom and Thomas Waters.
He leaves his memory behind with his loving wife, Willie James of Ashburn; his children, Shurnell James of Warner Robins and Reginald James (Tracey) of Bonaire; granddaughter, Jocelyn James; stepchildren, Ira Lee Weaver (Kelsa) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Sonya Lewis of Ashburn, Jason Weaver of Warner Robins, Iris King of Sycamore, Georgia, and Alton and Isaiah Weaver, both of Ashburn; a host of step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; siblings, Elmo James, Sr., Leroy James, Sr. (Shirley), Roosevelt James (Rebecca), and Lynmore James (Faye); son-in-law, Frank Haynes of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Bertha James; and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, August 26th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Mr. James will be laid to rest in Little Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Byromville following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Tehart to the Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201.
