Terrell Clement Ayres, 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
Mr. Ayres was born on March 3, 1919, in Mount Airy. A 1938 graduate of Habersham Technical College, he then enrolled in Radar School at Georgia Technical College. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at North Georgia Technical College. A World War II veteran, he served with pride and honor in the United State Navy as a Fire Control Specialist. Subsequent to his military service, he worked for Iron Firemen, an Atlanta HVAC company, until he began his fifty-two year career in Avionic Electronics at Robins Air Force Base. His major achievement was the development of the Pave TAC Missile used on Iraq in Desert Storm. A charter member of Second Baptist Church, he was a loyal and devoted member since 1947. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Lucille Gunter Ayres; daughter, Rita Ayres; grandson, Glen Thomas; and parents, Jeremi Henry Ayres and Selita Clement Ayres.
His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Carroll C. Ayres (Kyung-Im Kim Ayres), Woodbridge, Virginia, and Frankie T. Ayres (Judith Doreen Snell Ayres), Rex; Georgia; daughter, Patricia Ann Ayres Granson (Peter), Braselton, Georgia; grandchildren, David Wayne Ayres, Christine Ayres, Marie Ann Ayres Okamoto and Dale Clement Ayres; and great-grandchildren, Nobuaki and Magumi Okamoto.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 18, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at Second Baptist Church, the Reverend Jimmy Moneypenny officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Happy Hour Work Shop, 716 Young Avenue, Warner Robins GA 31093.
