Devoted family man and avid outdoorsman, Terry Nelson Peavy, passed into the hands of his Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 70. He was reunited in heaven with his daughter, Hunter Peavy, his parents, Charlie Peavy and Carolyn Fordham, his brother, James Hayes Peavy, and other relatives and friends who went before him.
A lifelong resident of the middle Georgia area, Terry was born in Macon, GA on August 19, 1952 and graduated with Warner Robins High School’s Class of 1970. He fulfilled a longtime career as an electrical superintendent with Macon Power before retiring. When he wasn’t working, you could find Terry spending time with family outdoors, more than likely hunting. For 40 plus years, Terry was involved with the Middle Georgia Buckmaster’s Association and the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) where he served as Chairman for each. He was a current member of the Southern Hunting Alliance, Inc. where he was on the Board of Directors. Some other non-profit organizations that were close to Terry’s heart included: 30-30 Ministries, Fraternal Order of the Police, Macon Regional Crimestoppers, Macon Food Bank, Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, Georgia DNR and Disabled Veterans. He was huge advocate for the youth spending time outdoors as he supported the Boy Scouts for many years, as well.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Billie S. Peavy of Kathleen; his daughters, Shannon Peavy of Nashville, TN and Erica Getrum (Rich) of Atlanta; his granddaughters, Taylor Rose Peavy, Savannah Brackett and Sienna Brackett; and siblings, Ronald Peavy, Diane Hayes, Charesa Gandy, Vick Godfrey, David Peavy, Steve Peavy, Diane Peavy and Dorothy Peavy.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Terry will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery following the service.
