Thomas "Tommie" E. Green, Sr., 81, entered into rest on Sunday, January 4, 2009.
Mr. Green was born on November 7, 1927 in Jennings, Florida. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force, participating in the Korean Conflict. Subsequent to his military career, he was a Computer Programmer in civil service and later retired from Robins Air Force Base. A member of the 1946 State Championship Cairo High School Football Team, he was enthusiastic about football, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He attended First Baptist Church of Centerville. His grandson, Wesley Thomas Britt; brother, Eston Green; sister, Lois Hatton; and parents, Horace Waymon Green and Mattie Alma Wilkerson Green, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of fifty-five years, Mildred Bond Green; children, T. Everett Green, Jr. (Lynn), Warner Robins, Elaine Johnson (Charlie), Perry, and Eston Green (Cheryl), Huntsville, Alabama; sister, Evelyn Reese, Warner Robins; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Centerville, Reverends Jeremy Barrett and Boe Stanley and Dr. Ray Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Kidney Fund, 72 Edgewood Avenue, Atlanta GA 30303.
