Warner Robins

Thomas Phillip Gladney passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 73. Born to the late Jesse and Thelma Banks Gladney in Roanoke, Alabama, Phil spent his life bringing joy, humor, and a bit of mischief to everyone he met.

A lifelong lover of music, Phil had a deep appreciation for live performances and enjoyed listening to music, especially when played at full volume. Many fondly remember his iconic "Green Van," a rolling party with speakers perched on top, delivering good vibes and tunes to all who could hear them.

Phil was a proud supporter of Northside High School football and an avid follower of the Macon Whoopee hockey team. He shared this love of sports with his children, by taking his son Stephen to Northside football games and spending countless hours practicing softball with Heather in the backyard.

The city also knew him for his enthusiasm for the holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas. Every year, he poured his energy into creating unforgettable experiences. He was an active volunteer with the Jaycees, helping to craft their haunted house into a spine-chilling success. His Halloween spirit was unmatched, often rivaled only by his Christmas cheer.

For years, the front yard of Phil’s childhood home became a holiday wonderland. Phil and his family would decorate a massive cherry tree, turning their home into a festive landmark for all who passed by. Under that tree, large presents and an even larger dose of holiday magic made the season brighter. When his father, Jesse, could no longer play Santa, Phil proudly took over the role, spreading joy to children and adults alike.

Phil made his mark as a loving son, devoted husband, supportive father, and loyal friend. His laughter and love of music will be missed, but never forgotten.

In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cynthia Heuberger Gladney.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Stephen Gladney (Andrea) of Atlanta, Georgia and Heather Gladney of Atlanta, Georgia; siblings, Calvin Banks Gladney of Atlanta, Georgia; and grandpup, Nova.
