Thomas Pierce Mason, Jr., 89, entered into rest on Monday, December 17, 2012.
Mr. Mason was born on April 16, 1923 in Putnam County, Georgia. He was a member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Valley where he was very active in the Silver Doves Senior Citizen Group. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country during World War II as an Electrician's Mate Third Class; he served aboard the USS Zeilin and the USS Santee. Thomas retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an Electrician. Thomas was a true American Patriot; he loved his country and serving in the military and civil service. First and foremost, he was a family man who truly enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He also enjoyed woodworking. His loving wife of thirty-four years, Opal Cross Mason, his parents, Thomas Pierce Mason, Sr., and Lula McDonald Mason, brothers; Calvin, Donald, and Bobby Mason, and his sister, Francis Britt, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his son, Jack Mason (Elaine), Jesup, Georgia, step children, Tommy Stephens (Kristen), Orlando, Florida and Charlene Boor, Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Betty Mason Vining, Fort Valley, Georgia; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a number of extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Magnolia Park Cemetery. The Reverend Mobley Cross will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to be made in memory of Mr. Mason to the Salvation Army, 305 Green Street, Warner Robins, Georgia 31093.
