Thomas Wesley Patton

April 29, 1952 — December 26, 2021

Thomas Wesley Patton entered into the presence of the Lord on December 26, 2021 at the age of 69. The son of Everett and Charlotte Patton, Tommy, as Cathey loved to call him, was born on April 29, 1952. He spent his early years in Mobile, Alabama, then his family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. Tommy attended Northside High School, where he met Cathey Roberts. They were high school sweethearts, but life took them on separate journeys before they reunited and were married on Valentine’s Day in 1990.

Tommy earned an associate degree from Massey Business College. He spent 34 years working for Southern Airways, Republic Airlines, and Northwest Airlines. After retirement he spent ten years as a bus route supervisor for the Houston County Board of Education. Tommy was a tireless worker, frequently maintaining a second job as a painter, handyman, Wal-Mart manager, or a bookkeeper for his daughter Ashleigh. He also did much of his own auto and home repair. He loved racing, Western movies, and Crimson Tide football.

Tommy and Cathey have been active members of Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Tommy was a deep thinker who sought God through careful Biblical analysis and daily prayer. He was a well-prepared, insightful Sunday School teacher, and his Christian faith was evident in every aspect of his life. He was loved by his family, friends, and co-workers for his responsible leadership, friendly nature, generous spirit, and wise counsel. He was a gracious gentleman who always took care of his girls, whether it was filling up a gas tank, paying for a church trip, or buying Three Musketeer bars after a report card.

Tommy was a faithful husband, loving father, and entertaining Pop-Pop. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, supporting their activities, playing games, taking them out to eat, working puzzles, and teasing them with his mischievous sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Eleanor Dillard, and his brother Troy Patton.

Tommy is survived by his wife Cathey R. Patton; his children Jason Patton, Charles Patton, Teresa McClellan (John), Jennifer Salazar, Misty Miller (Keith), and Ashleigh Haller (Scott); his grandchildren Gracie and Brayden Patton, Shelby and Sydney Patton, Rebecca Gross (Nicholas), Hannah Coll (Jacob), Rachel and Lydia McClellan, Isabela and Emilio Salazar, Samuel and Stephen Miller, Nataleigh and Anna Leigh Haller; two great grandchildren; and his brother William Patton (Kay).

Upon his request, no visitation or funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, would be greatly appreciated.
