Thurmond Russell “Rusty” Cooper, Jr., 71, entered into rest on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Rusty was born on February 15, 1952, in Macon, Georgia to the late Thurmond Russell Cooper, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Babb Cooper. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school, where he served honorably. Following his military service, he held a variety of sales positions before going to work in Civil Service as a maintenance professional on Robins Air Force Base. In his free time, he was an avid fan of southern rock, especially The Allman Brothers. Rusty’s presence will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his son, Grant Cooper.
His memory will forever be treasured by his siblings, Tony Cooper (Judy) of Macon, Georgia, Ken Cooper (Deanna) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Nancy Hancock (Alan) of Phenix City, Alabama; along with several nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, October 30, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Rusty will be laid to rest in Centerville Cemetery at a later date.
