Tommie Lee Philips

Tommie Lee Cox Philips, 65, entered into rest on Thursday, February 21, 2008.

Ms. Philips was born on February 26, 1942 in Toccoa, Georgia. A member of First Baptist Church in Toccoa. She retired from the Center for Disease Control in 2005. She has lived in Warner Robins since August of 2006 after living in Atlanta for nearly 20 years. Tommie has always been family oriented, God centered and strong in so many ways. Tommie always loved staying busy, getting family together and spending time with kids. Her energy, determination and love of family are traits that many of us will remember always. Her father, Thomas Hugh Cox, Jr., sisters, Patsy Cox and Debbie Pattacca, step-son, Bob Burdette, preceded her in death.

Family includes her sons, Skip Philips (Cathy), Warner Robins, and Scott Philips, Buford; daughter, Paige Jackson (David), Grayson; mother, Willie Mae Cox, Fayetteville; brother, Hugh Cox, Fayetteville; sister, Jane Sims (Tony), Monroe; and seven grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, Erin, Heather, Hayden, Justin, and Eden; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the Stephens Memorial Gardens, Toccoa, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088 and First Baptist Church of Toccoa, 601 East Tugalo Street, Toccoa, GA 30577.
