Tommy Lee Morris

November 12, 1948 — January 11, 2016

Tommy was born Nov 12, 1948 in Dublin, GA. He lived the majority of his life in Warner Robins, GA and was a graduate of Northside High School in 1967. He was drafted in 1968, serving in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon Tommy's return from Vietnam, he married his childhood sweetheart and in 1977 began a family of his own. He retired from Civil Service at Warner Robins Air Force Base and then worked as an Accountant for family, friends and various businesses in town. With his passing, Tommy's year and half-long battle with cancer came to an end, peacefully, on the evening of January 11th, 2016.

As a child Tommy's abilities in athletics shined at an early age and shaped the remainder of his life. He played football, basketball and baseball as a youth, excelling at all three while attending NHS. After returning from the war, he continued his passion for sports - playing softball and volleyball with friends, organized basketball with the "Jolly Foxes" in games even against the likes of the local college teams in the area, and participated in numerous intramural sports as he earned his degree from what was then Georgia College. "Tom" or "Big T", as he was often referred as, was also a skilled pool player (he took his fair-share of cash off tables throughout the Southeast during his days), an avid deer hunter, and a "legend" on the grill amongst friends and family when it came to cooking various meals while tailgating in Athens for Georgia Bulldog football games.

Though Tommy's first love was "round ball", he found his calling in the game of baseball – specifically at Warner Robins American Little League. As a child, he played at WRALL from 1959-1961 and would later return as a coach in 1985 once his son was ready to play. "Coach Tommy" would go on to put in 30 years at the local Little League, working on the league's board, volunteering to coach even after his son's playing days were through, and coaching numerous All-Star teams during his time there. One of his many accomplishments at WRALL was as an assistant on the 2007 Little League World Series Championship squad, where he served as one of the hitting and pitching coaches for the team. Tommy always insisted he received more from Little League and the kids he coached than he ever gave to them, and in a humbling tribute, WRALL recently honored his efforts by dedicating one of the baseball diamonds at the complex in his name - "Coach Tommy" Morris Field.

He will be missed by his wife of 45 years - Bonnie Adams Morris, his children – Brad Morris (Allyson) and Melinda Morris (Michael), his grandchildren - Ansley, Millie and Atley Morris, his Father – Leroy Morris (Cathy), his Mother - Becky, his siblings – Jimmy, Vicky, and Larry (Laura) Morris, his brother-in-law - Jack Adams (Sue), his sister-in-law - Donna Adams, as well as, several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
