Troy Holland, 55, entered into rest on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Troy was born on February 23, 1967, in Macon, Georgia. Troy was a football player, holding many awards at Warner Robins High School, where he graduated in 1985. He was appointed to the Naval Academy by Senator Nunn and went on to play football for Navy. There, Troy received the Silver Helmet Award and was inducted into the Navy Hall of Fame, where his jersey (#76) hangs in the Lejeune Hall at the Naval Academy. Following his college career, he was commissioned in the Navy and served in the Iraq War aboard the hospital ship, USNS Mercy.
After Troy’s time in the military, he became a very talented tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. He later began a career in investing and real estate, where he’d become a real estate agent of his own employ. Troy was big into technology and loved golfing, flowers, and fishing. He had two yorkies, Max and Molly, whom he loved like his own children. Troy never met a stranger; he was an outgoing man with a wonderful personality who got to know people all over the world.
His memory will forever be treasured by all of his parents, Darlene Holland of Perry, Georgia, and Leon and Mary Holland of Warner Robins, Georgia; his brother, Paul Holland (Jana) of Perry, Georgia; his stepsister, Allison Wilcox; his nieces and nephews, Austin Holland, Savannah Holland, and Jorja Chestnut; uncle and aunts, Oliver and Anne Bowman, Wayne and Wanda Parramore, and Jimmy and Gayle Holland; his lifetime friend, Jim Camp; and many other loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A memorial gathering will be Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12 noon. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Troy’s life will immediately follow at 12 noon in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
