Tsgt. Alan Lee Cleary, Usaf (Ret.)

TSgt. Alan Lee Cleary, 85, entered into rest on December 23, 2022.

Alan was born on April 5, 1937 in Derry, New Hampshire to the late Horace and Lillian Cleary. He attended and graduated from The Pinkerton Academy in 1955, at which point he’d go on to enlist in the New Hampshire National Guard until 1957. Alan would then enlist into the United States Air Force as a communications technician where he’d retire honorably after twenty years of service. From there, Alan worked for McDonnell Douglas as an electrical engineer until his retirement in 2004. In his younger years, Alan and his wife, Ellen, could often be found clogging professionally; at one point, winning the Georgia state clogging championship. Alan loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Alan also greatly enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of UGA, the Falcons, the Braves and the Hawks.

Alan’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 55 years, Ellen Cleary of Bonaire, GA; his children, Gary Cleary (Jennifer) of New Market, AL, Roy M. Cleary, and Marcus L. Cleary of Bonaire, GA; and his grandchildren, Sean Allan Cleary and Erin Jane Cleary of New Market, AL. In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his loving sister, Beverly Meehan.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Magnolia Park Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Alan Cleary for The American Cancer Society at 804 Cherry Street Ste A, Macon, GA 31201.
