February 10, 1940 — December 18, 2022

United States Air Force Veteran, Jerry R. Parker, passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the evening of Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born in Boaz, AL on February 10, 1940, the son of the late George A. and Lessie K. Parker.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was active in the Vietnam War and served a short tour in Korea. After dedicating 22 years of service with Strategic Air Command, he retired having attained the rank of Tech Sergeant. Jerry went on to work as a security guard for Sizemore Security from where he also retired. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and building the most beautiful furniture. Jerry was also honored to have helped church members with anything they needed. Aside from his military and security careers, serving at church and perfecting his woodcraft, he was a wonderful dad who taught his children so much over the years. Memories of Jerry will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Bedgood; and two brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Franklin Parker of Perry; children, Sarah Parker Gaff (Jeff) of Perry, James Parker (Blanca) of Cloud Croft, NM, Carol Wallace and Kelly Potts; grandchildren, Mona Wallace, James Parker, Michael Parker, Frances Wallace and Abigail Bedgood; two great-grandchildren; sister, Sybil Coffey; brothers and their wives, James Harry Parker, David L. Parker and Barry Parker; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
