Joseph Mims, 81, entered into rest on Saturday, April 18, 2015.
Joe was born on October 11, 1933, in Parrott, Georgia. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant. Following his military career, he pursued his love of flying. He flew with Lowe Aviation, Capricorn Records, Stuckey's and ASA before retiring at age 65. After retirement Joe volunteered at the Museum of Aviation. He was a very outgoing humorous man who loved his family beyond measure. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting rare coins for his coin collection and spending time with his beloved pet, Angel. Joe will truly be missed by all who knew him.
His mother, Gladys Bentley, and grandson, James "Andy" Nutgrass, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughters, Patricia King (Bill) of Byron, Karen Crawford (Steve) of Bonaire, Sharon Nutgrass of Warner Robins, Christy Norman (Kevin) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Stacy Carty (Joe), Elizabeth Nagy (Rick), Natalie Baker (Jason Armentrout), Audrey Morath (Tripp), Toby Norman, Katie Norman; great grandchildren, Brody Carty, Rylan Carty, Ben Nagy, Abel Nagy, Amy Finch, Kendall Nutgrass, Kelsie Morath, Bryson Morath, Paige Morath, and brothers, Sam Bentley (Jane) and John Bentley (Alicia).
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m.in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
