Tsgt. Lewis Melburn Glover, Usaf (Ret.)

June 15, 1935 — November 18, 2021

Lewis Melburn Glover, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the age of 86. He was born on June 15, 1935 in Portland, TN, to the late Richard Louis and Ruby Pauline Walker Glover.

A 20-year USAF Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Lew also dedicated 26 years to Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base before retiring. He was skilled with his hands and a great handyman who could fix anything; he absolutely loved building at home for his family. Lew was also a successful musician who loved to “pick and grin” the guitar and mandolin. He was blessed to have the opportunity to travel all over the world to perform with the mandolin that his brother gave him in 1954. Most importantly, Lew loved the Lord and made sure his family was raised in church. His legacy of unconditional love will continue to bless generations to come.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Lewis.

Lew is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma Strader Glover; his children, Sheryl Glover, Robert Glover, James Glover, Janet Brown, Kathy Swan, Richard Glover, and Melissa Sondron; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Lew will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery at Noon that same day.
