TSgt Thomas Patrick Upshaw, USAF (Ret), 77, entered into rest at Piedmont Hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
Thomas was born on October 7, 1934 in Cairo, Illinois. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired as a Technical Sergeant after twenty-two years of service. He later retired from Robins Air Force Base as an Electronic Technician after fifteen years. Thomas was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and of Sunday School, and in his spare time, he enjoyed music and working on and teaching others about computers. His parents, Virgil T. and Cecile Upshaw; three brothers; and one sister, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Betty June Upshaw, Kathleen; children, Dr. Thomas Stephen (Michelle) Upshaw, Atlanta, Patrick (Maureen) Upshaw, Gainesville, Florida, and Deborah June Howard, Murray, Kentucky; grandchildren, Nathan (Leslie) Keller, Ben (Alex) Keller, Rochelle (Dave) Trafton, and Natalie, Bryan, Sean, and Nicholas Upshaw; great-grandchildren, Zane and Zoe Keller, Beck and Senna Trafton; sister, Rosalie (Steve) Boaz, Brownsville, Texas; brothers, Merlin (Alice) Upshaw, Macon, Jack (Patsy) Upshaw, Kathleen, Joe (Trish) Upshaw, Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Betty George, Macon; and niece, Kathy (Tom) Stewart, Kathleen.
Visitation will be Friday, May 18, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. The family will accept flowers, or memorial donations may be given to Shirley Hills Baptist Church Building Fund, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
