Ulysses McDaniel Howard, a pillar of strength and an exemplary man, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. Known for his unwavering dedication and profound wisdom, Ulysses was a guiding light to his children, Torrey Howard, April Howard, and Michael Howard. His strength was not just in his physical presence but in his steadfast support and boundless love for his family
Born and raised in Peach County, Ulysses graduated from Peach County High School. His remarkable journey took him from a dedicated member of the U.S. Army to a skilled drywall finishing specialist for 20 years, and later, a retiree from Hitachi automotive assembly. His unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of his career.
One of his favorite pastimes was teaching his children to take pride in whatever it was they chose to do and to complete their assignments with excellence. It was during these moments that he shared his life lessons and stories, teaching them the values of patience, perseverance, and the importance of family. Ulysses’ life was a testament to the power of kindness, hard work, and the enduring bonds of family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the great man and father he was.
Ulysses was preceded in death by his mother, Willie May Howard; father, John Howard; and siblings, J.L. Howell, William Howell, Bill Howell, Marie Gibson, George R. Howard, Chester Howard, Shirley Ann Saxon, Vivian Davis, and George T. Howard.
Ulysses was a beloved father to Torrey Howard (Bethany) of Atlanta, Georgia, April Howard of Byron, Georgia, and Michael Howard (Ashley) of Tampa, Florida. He took immense pride in his role as a father and grandfather, nurturing and guiding his children with invaluable life lessons. His grandchildren include Torrey Howard Jr., Roman G. Howard, Langston C. Howard, Anthony Hodges, Ivan M. Hodges, Leighton B. Howard, Micah A. Howard, and Michael Howard, Jr. His family will also remember him fondly as a supportive and loving sibling to Fredrick and Valerie Howard and Carolyn Allen.
