Valarie Ann Hanson

January 29, 1962 — December 10, 2023

Bonaire

Valarie Ann Hanson, 61, entered into rest on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Valarie was born on January 29, 1962, in Thomaston, Georgia to an active-duty military family. She lived in many interesting places as a military child, including Georgia, New York, New Jersey, and Germany to name a few. Her family eventually settled in Warner Robins where she graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1980. From there, Valarie worked for Happy Hour Workshop for 28 years before transitioning her work to the Happy Hour Senior Center. Valarie proudly participated in the Warner Robins Special Olympics several times in her lifetime and enjoyed attending church services at the Robins Air Force Base chapel with her mom. In her free time, she enjoyed solitude where she could write, do puzzles, or watch movies and TV shows such as Little House on the Prairie, The Walton’s, and The Incredible Dr. Pol. She loved animals, especially dogs, and loved her family and the time she could spend with them. Her loss will be felt deeply by those who loved her.

Valarie’s father, Wilbur Hanson, Sr., along with her siblings, Karolina Brinson, Crystal Hanson, and Alvin Hanson, all preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her mother, Judy Hanson of Bonaire, Georgia; brother, Wilbur Hanson, Jr. (Nicole) of Jarrettsville, Maryland; nieces and nephews, Georgia Hanson, Savannah Holbrook, Lulu Hanson, Craig Brinson, and Mark Brinson.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, Valarie will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
