Velma Baxter, 92, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
Mrs. Baxter was born on November 1, 1925 in Booneville, Mississippi to the late Charles and Leona Church Vuncannon. She retired from Robins Air Force Base where she worked as an item manager and key punch operator. Mrs. Baxter was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church and served faithfully as a nursery worker. She loved to travel—especially with her church friends—and had traveled all around the world. One of her most memorable trips was to the Holy Land. In her spare time, Mrs. Baxter enjoyed playing cards and bingo. However, her greatest joy was found in time spent with her beloved family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar Baxter.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Betty Jo “B.J.” Toth (Marty) of Warner Robins, Sandra Smith of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Amanda Bruce (Darrell) of Perry, Sharon Brown (Kevin) of Warner Robins, and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bryson, and Cody.
Visitation with Mrs. Baxter’s family will be Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Dr. Johnny Ellison officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Baxter will be laid to rest next to her husband in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Velma V. Baxter to Homestead Hospice, 500 Osigian Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
