Viola Thornton, 90, entered into rest Friday, September 26, 2008.
Mrs. Thornton was born in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. An active and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she also enjoyed painting, baking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Lawless "Tony" Thornton, and by her parents and six brothers and sisters.
Treasuring her memory are her sons, Lt. Colonel Joe Thornton (USAF Ret.) and his wife Nancy, Moreno Valley, California and Colonel William Thornton (USAF Ret.) and his wife Donna, Warner Robins; granddaughters, Ashley Thornton Eder and Jennifer Thornton; grandsons, Matthew, Philip and Nathan Thornton; great-granddaughter Autumn Thornton and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a rosary on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home followed by visitation until 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monsignor Nijem and Rev. Jim Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 250 S. Davis Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
