Byron

Virginia “Cheryl” Davis, 79, entered into rest on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Cheryl, born on January 12, 1946, in Quitman, Georgia, to the late John David and Hazel Inez Godwin, lived a life full of vibrancy and charm. Known for her outgoing nature, Cheryl never met a stranger—she had a natural gift for connecting with people.

Her passions were as colorful as her personality. A devoted collector, Cheryl had an eye for treasures, especially antiques, which she pursued with enthusiasm. Her green thumb and artistic flair were evident in her beautifully tended gardens and flower arrangements that brought joy to all who saw them. Cheryl also had a deep love for the outdoors, spending cherished moments fishing and deer hunting. She poured her heart into raising and showing cocker spaniels, a passion that spanned many years. Her love for animals extended to her beloved cats, who brought her constant companionship and comfort. An enduring fan of Elvis Presley, Cheryl found joy in his music. Her warmth, zest for life, and the unique passions she cultivated will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her children, Kimberly Burton and Chad Davis.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Douglas Davis; children, David Jackson (Ginny) of Georgia, Steve Jackson (Valerie) of Panama City, Florida, Misty Davis of South Carolina; Jamie Davis of Tybee Island, Georgia, and Joy Lawson of Juliette, Georgia; brother, Charles David Godwin, Sr. (Debbie) of Albany, Georgia, along with 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Cheryl will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
