Virginia was born in Nashville, Georgia to the late Marcus and Julia Wilkerson Weaver. She attended school in Berrian County, Georgia. Virginia married the love of her life, L.D. "Doc" Freeman in 1946, becoming an Air Force spouse, traveling and living in numerous cities and states. She was an excellent seamstress, upon retiring from civil service; she decided to turn her passion into a career and began working at Milam's Fabrics, where she was employed for over 20 years. Virginia was a long time member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church, a magnificent cook, and completely devoted to her family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, L.D "Doc" Freeman; only sibling, Latrelle Barfield; and nephew-in-law, Gene Hodge.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her nieces, Linda Gail Hernandez (Robert) of Macon, Penny Hodge of Ray City, Beverly Mankowoski (Jo) of Royal Oak, Michigan; nephew, Bill Barfield (Peggy) of Ray City; a special beloved niece, whom she called her granddaughter, Lettie Hernandez Ongie (Matt) of Roswell; beloved great granddaughter, Livie Ongie; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Due to Mrs. Freeman's wishes, there will be no visitation, a private graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015. Reverend Robert Weaver has faithfully administered to Mrs. Freeman for over five years, he will officiate her service.
