Warren L. Wells, 86, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.
Mr. Wells was born on September 29, 1922, in Jones County. With pride and honor he served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. While stationed in England, he met and married his loving wife, Edna Bayley Wells. He retired after forty-two years at Norfolk Southern Railroad as a car man. In 1964, he moved to Griffin, where he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Mount Gilead, and taught Sunday School, served as Deacon and was Chairman of Finance. For the past ten years, Mr. Wells has lived in Warner Robins and was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerville. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Wells and Robert Wells; sister, Geneva Williams, and his parents, Joseph Wells and Odessa Roberts Wells.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of sixty-four years, Edna Wells; children, Geoffrey (Kathy) Wells, Griffin, Terry Wells, Stockbridge, Marilyn (Billy) Tucker, Warner Robins, and Michael (Gina) Wells, Bonaire; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Vivian Wells, Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Centerville. Interment will follow at Wells-Kelley Cemetery in Jones County.
