Wayne "Buck" Payne

In the late evening hours of Friday, August 11, 2017, Buck Payne, 72, went to be with the Lord.

Buck was born on March 18, 1945 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Park and Dora Starley Payne. Following his graduation from Dudley High School, he was drafted into the United States Army. Later, Buck began his career working worldwide on hydroelectric dams, most recently at VA Hydro. One of the hardest working men you would ever meet, he taught himself the skills needed for his job years before getting his degree. Buck learned several foreign languages to be able to communicate with others around the world while working. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his property with his tractor. However, his greatest joy was found in family and most particularly his adoring grandchildren who thought he was “Santa Claus in blue jeans”. Buck lived to love and loved to laugh.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and 6 sisters.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 18 years, Terri McMillan Payne of Bonaire; children, Mike Payne of Madison, Florida, Billy Laseter of Kathleen, Tammy Hardin (Kelly) of Byron, Wendy Hoffman (Dory) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Michael Curtis Payne, Billie Joanna Payne, Kael Crews, Peyton Laseter, Karsyn Laseter, Zachary Inglett, Ansley Hoffman; sister, Anna Lee Evans (W.H.) of Cochran; brother, Jerry Payne (Ann) of Dallas, Georgia; many beloved nieces and nephews, and his dog “Louie”.

Visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Buck will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Wayne “Buck” Payne
to the charity of donor’s choice.
