William “Bill” Ernest Broyles, 93, entered into rest on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Houston Medical Center. He was born on May 2, 1931, in Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.
During the Korean War, Bill bravely served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a renowned boxer, earning him the moniker of the "Shamrock Express" in the boxing ring. Following his military service, Bill continued his commitment to safeguarding his country, working as a dedicated security guard at various locations across the nation.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bill enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and avidly reading newspapers and magazines. He also loved to hunt and fish, and occasionally attended small social gatherings.
A man of the Christian faith, Bill’s favorite hymn was, "At the Cross." He was a fan of music and enjoyed listening to Hank Williams, with "I Saw the Light" holding a special place in his heart.
His memory will forever be treasured by his very close friends, Reginald and Demitre Kiper.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Andersonville National Cemetery, where Bill will be laid to rest.
