William Clifford Johanson, 87, entered into rest Wednesday, March 26 2008.
Mr. Johanson was born on May 19, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Mr. Johanson was a WW II veteran who served with pride and honor under the command of General Patton in the 11th Armored Division, Third Army. He participated in several major campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge, the Battle of the Ardennes and the Battle of Europe. He was a carbine sharp shooter and an expert Thompson machine gunner. Subsequent to his military service, he continued to serve as a civil servant over a period of thirty-five years working in Intelligence and then Civil Engineering. His parents, Charles Augustus Johanson and Anna Maria Johanson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Helmi Johanson, Warner Robins; son, William C. Johanson (Yun), Jr., Fairfax, Virginia; sister, Violet Makusky, Long Island, New York; granddaughters, Christine Johanson and Lisa Johanson; niece, Alice Osman, Fontana, Florida; nephew, Roy Osman, Riverhead, Long Island, New York.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 at McCullough Funeral Home with services following at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
