William E. “Buz” Sawyer, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2018.
Mr. Sawyer was born on June 17, 1921 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Dr. Walter and Eva Sawyer. He was a retired engineer from Robins Air Force Base and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps in World War II. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Roena Sawyer; two brothers; and two sisters.
His memory will forever be treasured by his son, Taylor Sawyer (Kathleen) of Warner Robins; his granddaughters, Natalie Micola von Furstenrecht (Jacob), Lindsey Sawyer, and Brittany Smith; his great grandson, Vincent Micola von Furstenrecht; his nieces, Pat Laney, Linda Wood (Gary), and Charlene Kramer (Roger); and his nephews, John Sawyer, Charles Moore (Marcia), and Michael Moore (Jean).
The memorial service celebrating Mr. Sawyer’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Sandy Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Sawyer donated his body to the Medical College of Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Sawyer’s arrangements.
