William “Eddie” Evans, 67, entered into rest on Monday, July 31, 2023. Eddie was born on June 1, 1956, in Fort Valley, Georgia. He began a career in the music business at the age of 17 with Bruce Brookshire and the bands 'Roundhouse' and then 'Doc Holliday'. During the 80s, Eddie served in various capacities with the groups, including sound man, lighting director, guitar tech, and finally, bus driver for 'Doc Holliday'. While with the band, he toured the United States, doing shows nationwide, from New York to California, including a date at Madison Square Garden. He was an integral part of the working crew supporting these artists, and they considered each other 'family' during these years. During this time, Eddie developed friendships and acquaintances with many people, from artists to backstage personnel, including Gregg Allman and members of other groups. He excelled in many sports such as baseball, football, tennis, and basketball. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing (especially with his son), winning card game tournaments, and was a naturally gifted salesman. He will truly be missed by his family and many of the friends he made during his lifetime.
His parents, Colonel Edwin Evans and Jacqueline Benton Evans, along with his sister, Linda Evans Strong, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his son, Eric Shallar Gibbons (Rachel); grandchildren, Tristain Gibbons, Jacob Woodard, Ava Gibbons, and Asher Gibbons; and siblings, Gail Evans Mathews (Joseph), and Kathy Evans Godfrey (Victor).
A graveside memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Magnolia Park Mausoleum, where Eddie will be laid to rest.
