William Gilbert Cooley, 78, of Byron, Georgia departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2015 in Peach Regional Medical Center, Byron. He was born on December 5, 1936 in Dooly County, Georgia a son of the late Richard and Ada Nutt Cooley. On May 3, 1963 he married Carole Sue Price Cooley.
Surviving is his wife, Carole Cooley; children, Cyndi Dinardi, William Garrett Cooley, and daughter in law, Venita Cooley; 4 grandsons; 2 granddaughters in law; 3 great-grandsons; 2 great-grandchildren on the way; sister, Molly Cooley Keener; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
He attended Centerville Methodist Church and was a member of the Rutland Masonic Lodge number 298. William proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service he went to work at Robins Air Force Base working in transportation maintenance for Tecom.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
