Col. William Joseph Freeman, 78, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2007.
William Freeman was born on July 10, 1928 in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He attended the Military Command and General Staff College. Retiring from the United States Army, Colonel Freeman was a Battalion Commander of five units. He received many awards including the Meritorious Service Award. After his career in the Army he went to work in civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he retired as a Branch Chief. He was a loving family man and always eager to help wherever his help was needed. A man of many prestigious accomplishments, he was a member of AARP, National Guard Association, American Legion, Officer’s Club. He enjoyed attending annual Constabulary conferences, annual National Guard Conferences, and attending coin shows and collecting coins. His father, William J. Freeman, Sr., and two sisters, Katie Freeman and Connie Freeman, all preceded him in death.
He will be missed by his wife, Auguste Freeman, Warner Robins; children and their spouses, Robert W. Freeman (Rhonda), Charlotte, NC; Cynthia R. Joyner (Bryan), mother, Irene Dollar Freeman, Warner Robins; grandchildren, Rachel Freeman, Rebeca Freeman, Robbie Freeman, Brittany Joyner, Nicholas Ervin William Joyner; sisters, Joe Ann Pope (Kelly), Warner Robins; and Virginia Driggers, SC.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Central Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
