William Milton Hale, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
He was lovingly known by all his children and grandchildren as "Gankie", a term given by his first grandchild. Mr. Hale was born on February 19, 1922 on a farm in Talbot County, Georgia to the late William Thomas Hale and Lillian Gertrude Anderson Hale. When he was old enough, he went to work at Thomaston Mills. It was there that he met Mary Ludie Carpenter whom he married in 1944. He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church in Thomaston, Georgia. He was a loving, devoted husband and father and always tried to teach his children to do what was right. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Gankie retired from Robins Air Force Base where he dedicated many years of employment as an electronic and mechanical technician. His parents and his beloved wife of sixty- five years, Mary Ludie Carpenter Hale, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Milton (Deb) Hale, Nassau Bay, Texas, and Wayne (Patti) Hale, Gray; daughters, Verleen (Moses Perdue) Charles, Yatesville, Ealeen (Tom) Glover, Warner Robins, and Betty (John) Richardson, Macon; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, May 21 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure – Central Georgia, 277 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Suite 101, Macon, Georgia 31201.
