William R. "Wild Bill" Meyer, 61, entered into rest on Sunday, October 5, 2008.
Mr. Meyer was born on September 29, 1947, in Wellington, Kansas. With pride and honor, he served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He later worked as a self-employed truck driver, as well as being an iron worker, carpenter, and farmer. He was a member of the W.G.A.S. #51, the American Legion Post 172 and Honor Society of Legionaries 40 and 8. His parents, Gustav Meyer and Ida May Davis Meyer, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of forty-one years, Marsha Collier Meyer; sons, Robert "Robbie" Meyer (Rachel), Crawford County; Gustav Meyer (Jennifer), Kathleen; Kenneth "Kenny" Meyer, Warner Robins, and Daniel Christopher Meyer, Bonaire; grandchildren, Mathew Goldin, Natalie Smallwood, Nathan Meyer and Dalton "Outlaw D." Meyer; special adopted son and daughter, Steve and Mandy Rountree; and their children, Cheyenne and Jordan Rountree.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2008, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Sydney Odom officiating. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to United Hospice of Macon, 2484 Ingleside Avenue, Bldg. B, Macon GA 31204.
