William Thomas "Billy" Shepherd, Jr., 70, entered into rest on Thursday, October 8, 2009.
Mr. Shepherd was born on July 5, 1939, in Hawkinsville. After graduating from Hawkinsville High School, he attended Georgia Southern University. With pride and honor, he served his country in the 202nd Air National Guard. He worked for Hallman's Builder's Supply in Eatonton and was a longtime employee of Warner Robins Builders Supply Company. He was owner and broker for Shepherd Realty in Warner Robins. His many club memberships included the Warner Robins Builders Association, Warner Robins Realtors Association, Warner Robins Elks Club, International City Bass Masters, Presidents of the Warner Robins Jaycees and President of Region 9 Jaycees. He called Manley Memorial Baptist Church on Lake Sinclair his home church. His son, William Thomas "Tommy" Shepherd, III, and parents, William Thomas Shepherd and Jane Green Shepherd, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of fifty years, Sara Groover Shepherd; sons, Tim (Linda) Shepherd and Tracy Shepherd; grandchildren, Lauren, Jared and Gage Shepherd, Lindsey Byford (Isaiah); Jessica and Amanda Bryant; great-grandchildren, Sebastian Terrell, Kali and Khloé Byford, Jessica and Amanda Bryant; sisters-in-law, Jean Shine and Joanne Holland; aunt, Vera Edge; and several cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009, in McCullough Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. B. Carlisle Driggers officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be given to the donor's favorite charity.
