William Wayne Wilson, 80, passed away from complications due to COVID Pneumonia at Houston Medical Center on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Mr. Wilson was born on July 5, 1941, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late William Wade and Letha Strickland Wilson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army attaining the rank of Specialist. After his time in the service, Mr. Wilson’s commitment to America continued as he worked in civil service on Robins Air Force Base. As a skilled Electronics Technician, Mr. Wilson spent several years supporting the Air Force infrastructure before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing electronics, traveling to exotic places, and watching The History Channel. Mr. Wilson was an excellent gardener and enjoyed taking care of his plants and garden. He loved talking to others and was a gifted storyteller. Mr. Wilson also had a sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on others.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Wilson.
He is survived by his children, Wendy Maureen Shaw (William) of Centerville; James Wade Wilson (Amy) of Acworth; and Donna Marie Jespersen of Bonaire; five grandchildren, Hannah Shaw, Ethan Wilson, Noah Wilson, Autumn Wilson, and Jessica Jespersen; sister, Sandy Martin; and sister-in-law, Ruby Wilson; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
Visitation with Mr. Wilson’s family will be Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
