Willie C. Bowdoin, 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
Mr. Bowdoin was born on February 24, 1917 in Baldwin County, Georgia. He was a longtime faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Enterprise as First Class Boatswain's Mate. He was nicknamed Doggie Bowdoin during this time. Serving during WWII, he received many distinguished awards including being a two time recipient of the Purple Heart Award. Subsequent to his military career, Mr. Bowdoin retired from Robins Air Force Base where he worked for many years as an Electronic Technician. His parents, Daniel Carl Bowdoin and Laura Hubbard Bowdoin, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of sixty two years, Dorothy Ann Bowdoin; daughter, Wanda Bowdoin Honrath; grandsons, Stephen "Tony" Honrath, II (Sara); Sam Bowdoin; and great grandsons, Dean and Jack Honrath, all of Warner Robins.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, July 29, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
