Willie L. Cummings, Sr, a World War II Veteran and retired Robins Air Force Base Civilian, died on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was 92.
Willie was born on April 2, 1926 in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was the second of four children born to the late Clifford and Rebbie (Johnson) Cummings. Willie enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1950. He received several commendations and medals. He married Anne Louise Taylor in 1958 and had seven children in this marital union. Willie worked for Robins Air Force Base as an Aircraft Mechanic. He retired in 1986.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Cummings; and his daughter, Adrian Garner; His sister, Geneva Cummings; and his brother, Eddie Bee Cummings.
Willie Cummings is survived by his children (all of Warner Robins, Georgia): Pamelia Harper (Joe), Tonya Holland (Andy), Grover Darren Cummings (Patricia), Willie Cummings, Jr (Ursula) and Andrea Jordan (Cameron). His sister, Annie Pearl Cummings of New York; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Mr. Cummings will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
