Willie Benton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, two days after her 93rd birthday, surrounded by family.
Willie was born on May 7, 1930, in Clio, Alabama to the late Hasten and Lonie Belle Williams. She was a strong, resilient woman who was devoted to her family and faith. She married the love of her life, Perry, and together they shared 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Willie was known as a fine seamstress, making clothes for her family, friends, and clients for most of her life. She was a sports enthusiast, coaching and playing softball and basketball well into her 40s. Willie and Perry were among the earliest members of the LDS Church in Warner Robins and often held services in their home.
In addition to her parents, Willie was preceded in death by her husbands, Perry Benton and Milton Rackley; children, Chiquita Chanclor (Danny), Rex Benton (Tonda), and Bruce Benton (Emily); siblings, Buford Williams. Jack Williams, Peggy Camp, Earl Williams, Yewell Williams, and Don Williams.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children Phillip H. Benton (Michelle) and Anita C. Benton, along with her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Warner Robins Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the LDS Chapel. Afterward, Willie will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
