Wilton B. Simpson, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Helen First Baptist Church, Helen, Georgia. Interment will be private. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 277 Martin Luther King Blvd, Macon, Georgia 31201-3498.
Mr. Simpson was born on October 28, 1917, in Calhoun City, MS. He was a member of Helen First Baptist Church. A graduate of Mississippi State University, he enjoyed playing bridge and listening to classical music. Wilton was retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked as an inventory manager. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army where he served during WWII. A resident of Warner Robins since 1977, he was a Shriner and a Master Mason. His parents, Samuel Simpson and Verna Simpson Burns, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mable Vanlandingham Simpson, Warner Robins; daughter, Patricia (John) Simpson Callahan, Roswell; granddaughter, Trese (Mike) Martin, Gainesville; great grandsons, Mitch and Evan Martin, Gainesville; step-children, Richard (Jeanette) Guest, Collierville, TN; Meredith (Janet) Guest, Petaluma, CA; Greg (Cindy) Guest, Fort Valley; Amy Guest, Warner Robins; and two sisters, Dorothy Baker and Sue Burns, both of Clarksdale, MS.
