Wylene Donahoo Bell

June 17, 1934 — September 12, 2021

Wylene was born to parents Joe Hays Donahoo and Berta McLeod Donahoo in Macon, Georgia. At a young age her family moved to Atlanta where she spent most of her growing years. At the age of 20, Wylene met the love of her life, John Loam Bell, and they married on March 20, 1955. The couple moved from Atlanta to Macon in 1957. In 1959, they settled into their current home on Old Perry Road in Bonaire.

Wylene’s life was marked by being a gifted wife to a self-employed businessman. She faithfully served her husband by doing whatever was needed to help the business, while providing a home full of love for her three children. Besides being an excellent cook and homemaker, Wylene also served her community with joy. Many members of the Bonaire community were blessed by her caring heart when she would deliver a big bouquet of roses to their house from her own rose garden. She played the piano, led the choir, and taught Sunday School at Bonaire United Methodist Church. At the age of 86, she was still playing the piano for her Sunday School class.

In addition to her parents, Wylene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, John Loam Bell; and by her three siblings, Mary Jo Lee, Janelle Wright, and Bill Donahoo.

Wylene went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021. She is survived by her three children, Ted (Connie) Bell, Wade Bell, Doris (David) Strong; three grandchildren, Jessica Bell, John Wiley Bell, Matthew Strong; and one great grandchild, Preston Bell.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Bonaire United Methodist Church. A memorial service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with David Strong officiating. Wylene will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery at a private graveside service.
