Yoshiko “Yoshi” Furukawa Ball passed away at her residence on Thursday, August 18, 2022, with her beloved husband of 59 years, Douglas A. Ball by her side. She was 90 years old.
Born in Nagoya, Japan, on July 29, 1932, Yoshi was the daughter of the late Tadayoshi and Rinko Furukawa. At the age of six, she moved with her family to Manchuria, China, and returned to Japan after World War II. Following her father’s passing, Yoshi began working on the United States Air Force Base and met the love of her life, Douglas. The couple married in 1963; she was a supportive military wife during Douglas’ 27-year career and they had a beautiful life together. Yoshi had a creative spirit and enjoyed painting and sewing. She also loved to garden and attended Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Douglas, her memory will forever be treasured by her siblings, Hedeko Furukawa and Utako Masuda of Japan.
